[ARCHIVED] Responding to Police Traffic Stops

In light of concerns with police impersonators, aggressive criminals and corruption among the law enforcement community Police Chief Webb wants to remind citizens that the FHPD is aware of these concerns.

Motorists are, indeed, required to pull over when a police vehicle activates red and blue lights but concerns can be understood. A few simple actions, such as activating your hazards and pulling into well-lit and highly populated areas, can deter potential criminal or fraudulent activity as well as significantly increase the safety of the driver and passengers.

As a general reminder, following traffic laws and regarding the safety of other motorists can substantially reduce the risk of injury or property damage, as well as traffic stops from the police. Please see the News Release available on the Police Department's public information page.
