[ARCHIVED] Enter the lottery for your 4th Grade class to attend WSSC's 10th Children's Water Festival!

WSSC is proud to be celebrating 10 years of the Children’s Water Festival. The festival, one of WSSC’s premier educational events, is now accepting applications from 4th grade elementary school teachers in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties to enter the lottery style drawing for an opportunity to be part of this year’s special anniversary event.

Schools wishing to participate in this year’s event must visit the Children’s Water Festival page under the public notices section at wsscwater.com and submit their application. Registration will be open through Saturday, February 14, at 5 p.m.

“This is a special year for the festival and your school will not want to miss out on the opportunity to take part in the learning experience and celebration,” says Willy Water Drop, WSSC’s official mascot. “We’re calling on all fourth graders from Montgomery and Prince George’s counties and their parents to encourage their teachers to register for a chance to be part of this great educational event. Pouring a glass of water is often taken for granted, but do you know the process water needs to go through before it comes out of your faucet? At the festival you’ll have fun learning exactly how it makes it to your home.”

Over the past decade, thousands of students have attended the festival, learning about the importance of water in their daily lives. Through hands-on activities, fourth graders learn about water issues, the environment and the impact our everyday habits have on the availability and quality of our water.

The event is open to public and private schools from Montgomery and Prince George’s counties but it is limited to approximately 500-600 fourth grade students. Schools will be randomly selected at the monthly commission meeting scheduled for February 18, 2015, at WSSC headquarters. Schools selected from the drawing will be notified and are responsible for all costs associated with transportation.

Date: Wednesday, May 6, and Thursday, May 7, 2015 (Two one-day events)
Time: 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Location: Brighton Dam Visitors Center, 2 Brighton Dam Rd, Brookeville, Maryland
