Code Enforcement

Purpose

The purpose of code enforcement is to ensure a comfortable quality of life and support the orderly and logical flow of business throughout the town. A balanced focus on health, welfare, safety, and beautification drives the efforts of code enforcement in Forest Heights.

Responsibilities

The code enforcement officer is responsible for assuring compliance with the Forest Heights Code of Ordinances. This includes parking regulations and property maintenance standards. As well as building, utility, rental property permits, and contractors permit.

How a Complaint is Handled

  • A complaint is received by the Department
  • An inspection is performed to verify that a violation exist on the property.
  • The property owner may be notified that a violation(s) exist and is given a reasonable period of time in which to correct the violation(s).
  • A follow up inspection is performed to verify that the violation(s) has been corrected.
  • If compliance cannot be achieved through normal channels, a citation or other actions shall be taken Lien(s) may be placed on property tax
